The primary function is to support in the coordination and management of shipments. This includes the collection and input of shipment data, tracking and tracing, inputting changes and updates, communicating with internal customers and strategic partners, and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the i2 Transportation Management System. 


  • Analyzes transportation data on a daily basis and monitor Computer programs, SAP and TMS.  
  • Implements solutions to operational and service issues with carriers and warehouses operations.  Assists in the identification of customer problems and resolving them quickly.  
  • Facilitates billing through data collection and input. 
  • Assists in analyzing distribution network and performing optimization studies, recommending changes that will reduce cost and improve service. 
  • Assists in the development of continuous process improvement and high quality service. In conjunction with Transportation Manager, develops, implements, and tracks on-time delivery metrics. 
  • Cross-trains with other department personnel as necessary. Works closely with other Supply Chain departments to ensure shipments are moving properly.
  • Completes additional assignments as required by management.
  • Assists other departments with claims process and loss mitigation associated with transportation of our Customers product.  
  • Audits and approves (within pre-established authorization limits) invoice payments of freight and warehouse vendors. Audits invoices related to transportation.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots outbound and inbound shipments. Responsible for negotiating spot freight rates, dispatching out-of-network truck shipments, and assisting with coordination of dray deliveries. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to special projects and supplier / vendor presentations. 


  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree, logistics degree preferred, or equivalent work experience, and a minimum of two years experience in logistics or a related field is required.   Logistics knowledge of all modes of transportation is preferred. 
  • Must have excellent quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to translate analytical skills into high-level analysis. 
  • Proficiency in Excel is required. ERP experience is desirable (SAP preferred). Must be comfortable working with computers and have the ability to learn new software.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate well across all levels of the organization. Must have excellent customer service skills with the ability to work with both internal and external customers. Must be able to make decisions independently and recommend viable solutions to various problems and issues.
  • Must have the ability to handle a heavy workload and be able to work under pressure while handling frequent changes in direction, without losing focus. Must be willing to work overtime as necessary to complete a job.
  • Must be willing and able to travel as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to learn and acquire new skills and abilities.


Work is primarily sedentary. Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting item weighing up to 15 pounds.
