Reporting to the VP of Organizational Effectiveness, Neovia is looking for a hands-on leader to design, drive buy-in, implement, and manage our global approach to Learning and Leadership Development.  This role brings with it the exciting opportunity to build a vision and see the outcomes of that vision come to life.  Neovia’s HR organization is transforming from a highly decentralized team to a contemporary HRBP / COE model.  Foundational processes and tools are now in-place; our next major phase is to develop Neovia’s leaders and employees as part of the enterprise strategy of Winning with Talent.

 

Key Responsibilities You’ll Be Excited About

  • Develop, present, and execute global Learning and Leadership Development strategy
  • Drive change management for L&D programs from the CEO down
  • Provide L&D subject matter expertise on key Neovia initiatives
  • Drive adoption and maturity of existing foundational L&D tools and process (e.g., leadership assessment center, learning experience platform)

Job Purpose:

The Director of Learning & Leadership Development provides strategic leadership and management for the development of effective leadership and a deep pool of diverse and talented employees to achieve Neovia’s business objectives. 

 

Context:

Neovia is a global, industrial contract logistics company with more than 5,500 regular employees operating in 20+ countries, serving 100+ customer locations.

 

Job Duties:

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • L&D Strategy Development and Implementation:
  • Creates and implements a global, strategic L&D framework that addresses the learning and development needs of Neovia utilizing best practices in learning strategy development; aligning L&D strategy to business goals and objectives.
  • Integrates L&D strategy with other HR-sponsored programs as a key element of an integrated talent model (e.g., Talent Acquisition strategy, Neovia’s Talent Review Process – performance management, potential & succession planning).
  • Acts as an internal advisor on Learning & Development (including training and onboarding initiatives) and appropriately challenges and influences stakeholders, at all levels, on alternative solutions. 
  • Liaises with key internal clients and business partners to translate business performance needs into learning and development solutions (e.g., instructor-led management trainings, leadership development rotational program, etc.).
  • Learning and Leadership Development:
  • Improves organizational effectiveness through the development and deployment of learning solutions to enhance leadership, improve productivity, and drive a learning culture.
  • Leads the development and implementation of learning curricula essential for ensuring that the workforce has the right knowledge, skills and experience; strategically leverages in-house and third-party capabilities and solutions.
  • Designs, implements, and manages comprehensive development programs utilizing the 4E model (experience, exposure, education, evaluation).
  • Manages and strives to optimize all components of a leadership assessment center – focused on building leadership effectiveness, developing future leaders, and aligned to the Talent Review Process
  • Directs complex, experience-based development of key talent segments (e.g. Executive, High Potentials, Leadership) to create a strong leadership bench and succession management plans.
  • Manages business area (e.g., Commercial, Operations) needs assessments and recommends learning and development solutions to achieve strategic goals as directed by the Board of Directors.

 

L&D Continuous Improvement:

  • Drives the use of metrics and evaluates learning programs to ensure L&D is aligned to Neovia’s business goals.
  • Develops the business cases for and executes on learning and leadership development initiatives leveraging internal resources and external vendors appropriately.
  • Collaborates with HR Business Partners, Talent Management, and Compensation to  develop career models based on input from skills matrices, competencies and succession planning.
  • Develops and promotes effective knowledge management strategies and tools, including creating the business case for investing in and implementing effective tools
  • Drives adoption and utilization of Neovia’s online learning experience platform (Degreed).
  • Establishes an online university to improve access to learning and increase employees’ competencies across the organization (inclusive of learning and knowledge management platforms).
  • Recommends and oversees the implementation of a global knowledge management system (e.g., SuccessFactors’ JAM) to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and sustaining organizational capability.

 

TYPICAL PROFILE

  • An advanced degree (MA/MS or Ph.D.), in I/O Psychology, OD or related-field is preferred. An MBA or a background in 3rd Party Logistics is desirable.
  • Ten to fifteen years of experience in consulting and/or related corporate roles in a global environment.
  • Track record of working at the most senior level of the organization (CEO, senior leadership team) with clear examples of initiatives that built coalitions around common objectives and outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience leading cost-effective, high-impact learning programs on a global scale.
  • Able and willing to flex style to be effective across all levels of the company, including leading high-profile initiatives to coordinating and managing projects.
  • Strong financial and measurement skills: Ability to develop and utilize data and metrics that identify economic and financial impact to influence business decisions and outcomes.
  • Track record of applying thought leadership and problem-solving skills to C-suite executives on highly ambiguous challenges.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides a high level of human resources support to management and employees in order to leverage the company’s investment in our people. Typically works on a broad range of HR activities and initiatives.  Communication frequently includes sensitive information, requiring complete confidentiality and discretion in dealing with contacts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As a key partner to the respective department heads, understands and prioritizes strategic and tactical HR needs
  • Assists, influences and advises senior management to prevent and/or resolve people-related issues that affect business performance, company culture and employee engagement
  • Assesses HR implications of strategic business objectives and projects
  • Provides guidance and support to management to reinforce Neovia’s desired culture, values and behaviors
  • Leads and/or contributes to companywide HR or business initiatives
  • Ensures legal compliance with Federal and State requirements
  • Seeks guidance from Chief HR Officer and Senior Counsel as required to ensure compliance with internal policies and practices as well as relevant employment laws
  • Provides expert advice to local management team on various topics (e.g. teambuilding, leadership development, change initiatives)
  • Provides HR and organizational direction, support and counsel business leadership
  • With senior leadership, drives major change initiatives to meet evolving business and market needs
  • Facilitates improvement processes concerning team performance
  • Participates in Companywide process improvement efforts and cross-functional teams to ensure Neovia processes are streamlined and meet global expectations
  • Supports and drives organizational change initiatives; understands the implications of change in terms of skills, processes and competencies
  • Integrates Neovia’s mission, vision and values into all activities to drive alignment and provide sufficient clarity to act as guidelines for decision-making for managers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
  • 8+ years’ Human Resources experience with progressively increasing responsibility in a fast moving, agile, entrepreneurial, corporate environment
  • Proven experience designing and implementing HR initiatives
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills, as well as tact, diplomacy and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to coach, persuade and influence at all levels within the organization
  • Solid decision-maker since decisions may impact the organization as a whole, and errors may cause significant expense to the entire organization
  • Need to be able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint
  • Must be very customer-focused and have strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Must be highly process-oriented and metric-driven

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is primarily sedentary. Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting item weighing up to 15 pounds.
