JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent will lead efforts to optimize the organization’s commodity spend, improve the overall value proposition through the successful implementation and execution of global commodity spend strategies. This position is further responsible for delivering savings targets for assigned commodities by working cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Finance and leadership to develop, launch and execute strategic cost reduction initiatives.  This role requires superior attention to detail, the ability to meet crucial deadlines, great organizational management skills and the ability to juggle multiple critical tasks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates commodity spend and recommends sourcing and purchasing decisions to internal stakeholders by focusing on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) incorporating customer needs, organizational goals, and market conditions to leverage overall commodity spend.
  • Utilize industry product knowledge, vendor relationships, collaborates with cross-functional team to identify and execute cost savings initiatives and continuous improvement activities to support company goals.
  • Builds market intelligence capabilities and analyzes trends on key markets, suppliers and solutions to develop, implement and support the procurement strategy.
  • Makes sourcing plans by preparing, analyzing, and incorporating data to capture requirements (part numbers, drawings/specifications, tooling, volumes) to include in Request for Quotes (RFQs) or Request for Proposals (RFPs) and contract terms consistent with commodity strategy.
  • Leads supplier qualification process, within commodity strategy, by defining and evaluating supplier performance by key metrics, utilizing tools and processes to optimize efficiencies to improve TCO while maintaining quality and service.
  • Participates in monthly business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future commodity strategies and present project updates on cost reduction initiatives and improvement opportunities.
  • Leads, manages, and supports rigorous contract negotiations with suppliers and key internal stakeholder to execute multi-year contracts that achieve lowest total cost including terms to mitigate economic and currency fluctuations as appropriate for assigned commodities. Discontinue existing supplier contracts where relevant.
  • Responsible to work with legal department to insure the legal soundness of the contractual relationships between Neovia and its supply base, within scope assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 + years of work experience in a Global Strategic Sourcing or Commodity Buying role.
  • Strong project management and leadership capability. Minimum 3 years of strategic sourcing management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or Operations required, Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Advanced background and understanding of business management and contractual law to translate legal terminology and procurement terms and conditions included in supplier agreements and contracts.
  • Advanced experience with procurement (ERP) systems, SAP software experience is preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong Project Management, business analysis and reporting expertise.

Preferred:

  • Experience with contract procedures, negotiations and approval processes necessary to manage contracts and the associated quoting activities.
  • Exceptionally strong negotiation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of procurement ethics and best practices
  • Strong business partnership, relationship development and teamwork skills with customers and all levels of an organization
  • Strong analytical skills with critical thinking to break down and interpret company & vendor data and convert findings into applied, decisive information that lead and support sourcing strategies.
  • Must be self-disciplined and organized  with the ability multi-task, manage time, determine priorities and meet deadlines amidst rapid change

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is primarily sedentary. Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting item weighing up to 15 pounds.

  • Work Environment:
  • Operates in a demanding, fast-paced, people-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required. Less than 10%.
