JOB SUMMARY

  • Manages a global IT Purchasing team.  Also responsible for contract negotiations and renegotiations around software and hardware for a global organization. This position combines managerial responsibilities with demonstrated technical expertise.
  • Lead group of analysts or engineers, either directly or indirectly.  Provide effective scheduling, coaching, and oversight to a global/multi-regional team, which includes day-to-day support.  Accountable for delivery of large, complex programs with multiple work-streams and/or clients.  Perform performance management and assist in career planning for direct reports.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide effective leadership, development, coaching, and guidance to a global team, which includes day-to-day support. Delegate appropriate responsibilities as necessary. 
  • Manage all activities and functions of a staff involved with negotiations and renegotiations relative to global IT procurement of software and hardware.
  • Work with vendors globally to acquire materials and resolve purchasing issues. 
  • Support research and pricing for RFIs and RFQs pertaining to assets.
  • Creates purchase requisitions, vendor contract orders and receive purchase orders.
  • Generate RMAs (return material authorizations).
  • Initiate new vendor setup requests.
  • Develop and report KPI (key performance indicators).
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance (vendors, pricing, PO usage, etc.).
  • Manage escalations for late orders and lead initiatives to remove barriers that prevent on-time orders.
  • Expedite workflow approvals.
  • Participate in projects for system and process enhancements and serve as lead relative to global purchasing deliverables.
  • Manage and oversee the software license program, ensuring continuous improvement opportunities are incorporated appropriately.
  • Interact with users, vendors, and technical groups to resolve system issues and to improve processes.
  • Negotiate with vendors to drive costs down.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of global purchasing’s overall strategy, ensuring understanding within assigned team.
  • Ensure internal clients are proactively educated on roles and responsibilities associated with IT global purchasing activities.
  • Partner with human resources (HR) and support its human capital and organizational effectiveness programs and initiatives. Operate in alignment with HR’s strategies.
  • Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service and tangible outputs. Rely on industry standards, best practices, and qualitative and quantitative data to support and/or refine operations methodologies.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned, including overnight and international travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, business and relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of staff leadership experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience with SAP purchasing functions.
  • At least 7 years of IT experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience with asset purchasing and management.
  • At least 7 years of IT procurement experience (e.g., software, hardware, etc.).
  • Current procurement certification is preferred (e.g., C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is primarily sedentary. Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting item weighing up to 15 pounds.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with SharePoint is a plus.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization, and with external vendors and regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to communicate complex issues/solutions in a manner that is easily understood and actionable despite the audience.

  • Ability maintain confidentiality of extremely sensitive date at all times.
  • Must have strong analytical skills, ability to work independently, have exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills and pay specific attention to details.
