The Maintenance Associate is responsible for ensuring building maintenance goals and objects are achieved in a cost-effective, timely, efficient and safe manner.  This position plans, organizes, directs and coordinates complex maintenance and janitorial work, and requires the ability to establish, maintain and foster effective and positive working relationships.

  • The nature of the work requires knowledge of the skilled trades, janitorial services, safety regulations, and agency policies and procedures; strong organizational skills; the ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing; and the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.


  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Prepare, implement and revise work plans to be responsive to ongoing facility main­ten­ance needs; and pro­vide leadership in the development of facility maintenance programs.
  • Schedule, implement, and document maintenance activity on facility equipment.
  • Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations.


  • Quality, safety minded, reliable, precise and self-motivated.
  • High school diploma or GED is required. Associate’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • Ability to follow instruction and eagerness to complete a task on a timely basis as well as personal integrity
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to detect/trouble shoot and operate motorized and heavy equipment.




Work requires moderate muscular exertion and/or physical strain such as frequently climbing or, recurring bending, lifting, or lowering of items weight up to 50 pounds.

Requires lifting/lowering, pushing, or pulling of various items of varying weight.
